A graduation of sorts

We took the rails off of Reese's bed about a week ago. I had thought we'd just wait until she turned 3, a relatively arbitrary landmark, but a Saturday's worth of way too much sugar forced our hand. I'll spare you the details, but just let this serve as a warning to you- if you limit your kids' sugar intakes on a regular basis, that one day you say "what the heck, drink lemonade, eat cookies and birthday cake and ice cream" you will be in for a very long night. The resulting state of her bedrails required us to let her try sleeping without them. She did just fine- she's actually been asking to get rid of them for a few months. I have to admit...the "graduation" aspect of this would appear to be a milestone in her life...but the reality is that I am the one who gets to celebrate not having to change sheets while fighting with rails anymore!

We are staring down the barrel of the end-of-preschool gun this week. Strangely, I'm actually excited about it. We have a plethora of things to do, people to see and places to go and...best of all...the back yard is still their favorite place to be! Between the swingset, baby pool, batting tee and our new garden (post coming soon), they're perfectly thrilled to hang out at home. Meals outside still have an exciting quality to them so we make the most of it. If you're ever walking past our house and see us outside- come join us!
